Artist: Miguel Angel Varona.
Miguel Varona, artist
Born in Cuba, migrated to the U.S. as a kid. Traveled around a bit, but L.A., has always been home for me.
Varona Studios the project, started in 2000 on the Venice Beach boardwalk, mainly as a form of exposure, venturing out with my art to the very eclectic, rough yet addictive bohemianism of Venice Beach. A local painter by the name of Jean Paul and I became friends and it was through him that I was able to understand the politics of the local art scene.
I identify my painting style as surrealism with a emphasis on different.
My background in the arts is definitely limited to the school of Hard Knocks(self taught), not by choice but by accident. One day about 20 years ago I picked up a brush in an effort to impress a girlfriend and the darn thing got stuck to my hand, from that moment on I haven't stop painting (can't seem to get rid off it). In time I've learned to accept it and embrace it, by now..., well lets just say is like a mole on the tip of your nose, at first you get scare, then is OK., you tell yourself that one day you'll do something about it, and after a while well it kind of becomes part of you, you learned to embrace it for what it is, some sort of beacon in the night or maybe even your center of balance (sure why not).
For information on the paintings hit me up with your info. You will find a contact info. box (some where) Short and Sweet, that's how I like it.
